How to Shade Using Colored Pencil

If you feel like your drawing is not that great or not the “professional” like or realistic because of there is no shading that took part of your art. And if you feel like shading but do not know how to do it here are some tips that will make you an expert in no time.
First, buy high- quality colored pencils. Avoid the ones aimed at children, these often have a slightly waxy texture and do not draw properly, instead pick out some cheap artists' pencils with a large range of colors. Next, know how to hold a pencil it will help you develop a stroke to shade beautifully.
Hold the pencil sideways so the greatest area of the tip is in contact with the paper. This position will leave you to control or to lay down a very light base of color which you can then layer on top of until you have achieved the desired hue.
Then, you need to start by shading two contrasting colors into one another. For example, take your blue pencil and your green pencil. Starting with the blue pencil, shade from left to right, dark to light. Next, take your orange pencil and shade from right to left, dark to light. Experiment on mixing them as flawlessly as possible where they tend to meet in the middle.
Master the art of burnishing. Use a very light or colorless blender or a paper stump or roller stamper tool to smooth out colors and minimize the appearance of pencil strokes. This will work better than your thumb, as well as it will give you more control in dealing with your art work.
If you want to create highlights and shadows, avoid the temptation to use black and white. Sticking to the basics for all of your shadow and highlight may leave a picture looking flat (Depending on someone’s perspective). Dark blues, purples, and indigo make for a richer shadow, while very pale gold and yellows make for warmer highlights. Lastly do not rub using your eraser. Rubbing color pencil will do more harm than good, grinding colors into the page rather than removing them. For more control and a cleaner page, press a kneaded eraser on the area and then carefully peel it off.
Creating a beautiful art piece will start from a very careful and humble beginning. Patience takes a lot of part in developing your skills. And if you practice constantly, you will master all these steps in no particular time.
